Remembering June

June is always an exciting time for a teacher because school ends and a more relaxing time begins.  This summer, not so much. Class, company, a WEDDING, and a week-long trip to Oregon for an open house. I wouldn't change a thing.  It was a wonderful month.

I went to a class on the Constitution for the first two weeks of the summer--forty hours of checks and balances, why the Constitution got amended, and why was it written in the first place.  I loved every minute of it. The second week included classes on differentiation in the afternoon as well.  I got lots of great ideas.

Nathan, Briana, and Emmaline came to visit on June 16, and that started the fun for the next ten days.  We began by celebrating Briana's birthday that night, going out for Chinese.

It is difficult to be long-distance grandparents, so we looked forward to some hands-on grandparenting. My hope was that Emmaline would look me deeply in the eyes and then give me a mammoth smile!  That is exactly what happened! What a beautiful, smart, loving granddaughter!
On Father's Day Emmaline met her cousin, Maris, and couldn't contain her excitement. She giggled and couldn't stop.  Maris had waited and waited until Emmaline woke from her nap to see her cousin for the first time. When she saw her in her pink polka dotted dress, she squealed, "She's Minnie Mouse!"  She commented that Emmaline loved her so much because she [Maris] was so cute.  Very true.

Also on Father's Day, Alicia came home to stay until her wedding.  This was a special bonus for us.  We had the entire family home at once!  Erik, Nathan, and Briana met for the first time.
Nathan's birthday followed on Monday, and he chose to go to Costa Vida.  After dinner, we posed for pictures in the parking lot.

Next, Alicia, Briana, and I made a trip to Antelope Island with Uncle Jeff to take pictures of Alicia in her wedding dress at sunset.  Here are some favorites:

Photo shoot done.  Back to the car.
Nathan waited patiently to celebrate his birthday cake until we got back at 10:00 p.m.
Happy Birthday Nathan!
