For Christmas, I got George Washington, A Life, a fairly new biography about Washington's life. My goal was to finish it by his birthday, February 22. I didn't quite make it, but I finished it this morning. Washington was amazing! He truly was the "essential person" of the founding of our country. He kept going as general when anyone else would have quit, even convincing weary, hungry soldiers to stay. He presided at the Constitution Convention, and he defined the presidency of the United States. (As a side note: I'm mad at Thomas Jefferson and James Madison for their intrigue during Washington's presidency. They caused him pain as they supported a negative newspaper that defamed Washington.) Washington is my hero of heroes. Thanks, George Washington. Happy belated birthday!
